Ann Arbor was a great place to lick our immigration wounds and get the rock back rolling. Johnny’s speakeasy (built in the 1870’s as a fruit cellar) was one of the most unique places we’ve ever played and the good vibes there washed away the recent memories of kevlar and ponytails and triplicate forms. Thanks Jimbo and Johnny.

So one of the interesting factoids that was passed around the van courtesy of our Illinois native, is that the “Windy City” isn’t just a reference to the weather but also to the false talk of their crooked politicians. Who says sitting in a van day after day on the highway isn’t educational?

We had a ball in Chicago - played the Double Door opening for Dex Romweber Duo. We were blown away by their combo of intensity and effortlessness as they brought the satisfyingly dark vibes to Chitown. Andre Williams (of “Shake Your Tail Feather” and “Jailbait” fame) also played, and won the wardrobe award for his three piece red suit with matching hat. Bottom line, if you wanna play in Chicago, you better bring your A game.

Speaking of good vibes, as I write this, the aroma of pasta sauce is wafting from our buddy Aaron’s kitchen here in Nashville while an undetermined member of the band is in the basement playing Aaron’s drums. After all the cold and rainy weather, being here in Nashville with the birds singing and flowers blooming is a beautiful thing. And we’re joining our friends Roman Candle for the last show of our tour tonight at 12th and Porter - couldn’t think of a better way to finish it off. RC opened for us on our first show of the tour (Cradle) and we open for them on the last. Bookends. Per-feck.
