On Friday, we played the gorgeous new Brooklyn venue, Bell House. Skippy, who runs it (and also runs union hall), always makes us feel at home, and Friday was no exception. We did an early show, together with my old friend chris moore (moore n sons - check em out!), and then there was a late event that night. We played along with the new video for “Walk on Thin Air” (see earlier post) which was a new experience for us.

The late event was a screening/event for the now-cancelled online show “Yacht Rock,” of which I’ve been a fan for a while. Basically, it’s a parody of all the “smooth music” of the 70’s - captain & tenille, loggins & messina, hall & oates, and steely dan. So waves of ironically clad hipsters in boating attire washed into the venue just as we were packing up, oblivious to anything but their own ironic mustaches and hawaiian shirts. One striking specimen in a super-ironic madras jacket ambled over to our merch table, picked up our newest cd, looked at it for a minute, turning it over for clues, then gave up, saying “I don’t get it. What does this have to do with Yacht Rock?” Indeed.
I almost convinced him how ironic it’d be for him to buy our cd anyway, but instead he went to get a picture with Hollywood Steve. So did I, ironically enough.
